Marhaba!

Welcome to Middle East Journeys.

I am Soumya, a travel journalist (bylines in BBC Travel, Architectural Digest, Time Out) who decided to quit her corporate career for the love of travel and writing.

In my heart, though, I am just a history buff who adores ancient ruins, a foodie with a salt tooth, and a culture vulture excited about local experiences.

I have lived, worked, and traveled in the Middle East for several years (Riyadh is my home now) and am passionate about everything the region has to offer.

From historic sites like the Ancient City of Al Ula in Saudi Arabia and the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt to modern cities like Dubai and Doha, the Middle East has fascinated me since I was a child.

The region has been the cradle of many early civilizations. It has been the birthplace of beautiful art forms and iconic dishes. Middle East Journeys is my tribute to this land and the incredible people that inhabit it.

Come with me as I take you on a journey to the best places in the Middle East, both famous and unexplored.
